Celebrating Love: Jon and Julie’s First Anniversary Photoshoot at home in Bed-Stuy

When Jon and Julie (a musician/producer and hairstylist at Kennaland, respectively) reached out for their first anniversary photoshoot, I knew their Bed-Stuy brownstone home would provide a perfect backdrop for celebrating their love story. Having married in the vibrant city of Oaxaca, Jon and Julie’s journey began with a beautiful blend of cultures and music. Their cozy bedroom, adorned with vintage charm and warm tones, set the perfect scene. The natural light flowing through the large windows illuminated their genuine smiles and intimate moments, as they cuddled, read poetry, played music and made art together.

The shoot then moved to the kitchen and its fire escape. The oh-so Brooklyn backdrop provided by the fire escape added a gritty yet stylish edge to the photos, highlighting their playful dynamic and everyday life. We concluded the session in their charming backyard, where the golden-hour light bathed them in warmth above their backyard. These images not only celebrate Jon and Julie’s first year of marriage but also capture the everyday moments and unique qualities that define their beautiful bond and the hospitality with which the share their love.
